EDP Foz Tua: Bat Roosts - Ecological & Compensatory Measures Monitoring Programs [2011-2017]
最新版本 由 EDP - Energias de Portugal 發佈於 Apr 9, 2020
The dataset contains records of bats (Chiroptera) collected in the lower valley of River Tua. Data were collected in the scope of the long-term Ecological Monitoring Program (PME) and the Monitoring Program of Mitigation/Compensation Measures (PMC) of the Foz Tua Hydroelectric Dam, promoted by EDP – Energias de Portugal, S.A. Data were collected between July 2011 and September 2017 during field visits to 91 known or presumed bat hibernation, reproduction and pre-dispersion (post-reproduction) roosts, within a 5-km radius buffer around the lower valley of River Tua. From 2012, two roosts located at >20 km from the river (deactivated railroad tunnels) were added to the sampling sites in the context of the PMC. The presence of individuals was recorded by direct observation, and all individuals were photographed whenever possible. The records include taxa identified at the species or genus level. In several occasions it was not possible to separate the individual species, so they were grouped in 15 “species complexes”, both mono-specific and multi-specific.
Data Records
The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 907 records. 1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
- Event (核心)
- Occurrence
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

地理涵蓋範圍
Most data were collected within a 5-km radius buffer around the river Tua valley (Northeast Portugal), up to 36 km from the mouth. There were also two additional sites surveyed at >20 km from the river. The sites were located in the municipalities of Alijó, Carrazeda de Ansiães, Vila Flor, Mirandela, Sabrosa and Bragança.

計畫資料
The dataset contains records of bats (Chiroptera) collected in roosts along the lower valley of River Tua. Data was collected in the scope of the Ecological Monitoring Program (PME) and Program of Mitigation/Compensation Measures (PMC) of the Foz Tua Hydroelectric Dam, promoted by EDP – Energias de Portugal, S.A. Data were collected between July 2011 and September 2017, during field visits to 91 known or presumed bat roosts (caves, mines, tunnels, bridges, bulidings, etc.) for hibernation, reproduction and pre-dispersion, within a 5-km radius around the lower valley of River Tua. The occurrence of the target taxa was documented through 5065 observation events. In total, 15 taxa were identified, 13 to the species rank and 2 to the genus rank. The “species complexes” could potentially add 4 more species to the list. The most common individual species (>100 records) were Miniopterus schreibersii (1662 records), Rhinolophus ferrumequinum (892), R. hipposideros (494), Myotis myotis (456) and M. daubentonii (195). The “species complexes” of the “small” Myotis (M. mistacinus, M. emarginatus, M. escalerai, M. beschteinii and M. daubentonii), with 491 records, and of the “large” Myotis (M. myotis and M. blythii), with 216 records, were also important.

| 研究區域描述 | The study was conducted in part of the sub-basin of river Tua directly or indiirectly affected by the construction of the Foz-Tua Hydroelectric Dam. The sampling included all known and potential roosts located in the flooded area and those found in a 15 km radius buffer around the future reservoir banks (caves, mines, tunnels, buildings, etc.), and up to a length of about 36 km from the Tua mouth. |
| 研究設計描述 | Thje objective of the study was to monitor the fate of bats roosts (hibernation and/or reproduction, and pre-dispersion periods) and associated bat populations in the area of the Foz-Tua Hydroelectric Dam, centered in a 5-km radius buffer around the river, during its construction (2011-2015) and subsequent flooding (2016-2017). The objectives also included the monitoring of bat population trends in 2 deactivated railroad tunnels located outside the study area (20 km distant), whose conditions for bats were improved in the scope of the Mitigation/Compensation Program of the Foz-Tua dam (2015-2016). |

取樣方法
Sampling was designed to cover all known and potential bat roosts in the study area, including railroad tunnels, caves, mines, wells, bridges and all sorts of buildings. A place was considered to be a roost when the presence of bats was confirmed, either by direct observations or by indirect evidences (e.g., faeces, urine stains, etc.). Each roost was visited once or twice per season, in the hibernation (January-February), reproduction (April-August) and pre-dispersion (September-October) periods, depending on the year. All roosts were searched for the presence of bats by two observers, which recorded all individuals seen. The time spent in each roost varied with the number of bats present and the accessibility conditions. Species identification were usually made “in loco”, with the aid of head-torches, binoculars and field guides. All bats were photographed whenever possible, not only to build a photographic database, but also to allow a “a posteriori” identification of individuals that raised doubts, or to count large groups that could not be accurately counted in a suitable time in the field.
