說明

The objective of this dataset is to compile 0.25 m2 quadrats and the abundance of macro vegetation covering area beneath these quadrats taken across the intertidal areas of the Tagus Estuary and Aveiro Lagoon over the boreal summer of 2022. The data recorded percentage cover of the Seagrass (Zostera noltei (Hornemann 1832)) and macroalgae, Ulva sp., Chaetomorpha sp., Bladder Wrack (Fucus vesiculosus (Linnaeus 1853)) and Agarophyton vermiculophyllum (Ohmi Gurgel, J.N. Norris & Fredericq, 2018.) quadrats were taken between the 13th and 17th of June 2022. This dataset has been acquired to validate maps of the spatial distribution of Zostera noltei obtained at the ecosystem scale with remote sensing images and notably Sentinel 2 with a 10 to 20 m pixel resolution. Therefore, some quadrats were spatially arranged to form a cross shape to fill a 10 m satellite pixel.

取樣方法

Sampling was carried out across areas of intertidal area accessible on foot.

研究範圍 Quadrat Photographed alongside taking dGPS location (Trimble Geo 7).
品質控管 Images were analysed consistently, with 10% of images being checked by expert commentators. The dataset was adjusted to the Darwin Core specifications (Wieczorek et al. 2012) in order to be published in the GBIF network.

方法步驟描述:

  1. Quadrat images were loaded into ImageJ software where polygons were drawn around visible extent of vegetation types, which allowed the percentage cover of each quadrat to be calculated.
