Sampling was performed in a total of 8 point counts, in areas of suitable habitat. The occurrence of the target taxa was documented through 3484 observation events. In total, 79 taxa were identified up to the species rank. The most common/abundant species (>180 individuals/observations) were Delichon urbicum (495), Passer domesticus (350), Sturnus unicolor (337), S. vulgaris (317), Turdus merula and Fringilla coelebs (185).

Identificador EDP Biodiversity Data
Fuentes de Financiación The work was funded by EDP - Energias de Portugal, S.A.
Descripción del área de estudio The study was conducted in the final 5 km stretch of the Vilariça stream, a tributary of the lower Sabor river, located near its mouth. The sampling was centered in suitable habitats for terrestrial and aquatic/riparian birds.
Descripción del diseño The objective of the study was to establish the reference situation of the bird communities in the Vilariça stream during 2013-2014, before the implementation of the Compensatory Measure MC1 - "Compensatory Habitat of Vilariça Stream"

Métodos de muestreo

Sampling was designed to cover the main habitats for both terrestrial and aquatic/riparian birds near the Vilariça stream. A total of 8 points was marked along the final 5 km of the stream, down no its mouth. At each count point, a 10-minute session was performed, in which all birds detected by sight or sound were recorded. The same points were used for terrestrial and aquatic/riparian species, but the records were assigned separately (PV-- and PRAV--, respectively). The identification was made "in loco" by experienced observers, with support of appropriate field guides.

Área de Estudio The data were collected in several count points located at regular distances along the final 5 km stretch of the Vilariça stream, in the municipality of Torre de Moncorvo.
Control de Calidad All individual identifications were performed by qualified technicians
