The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 23 records.
1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Download the latest version of this resource data as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A) or the resource metadata as EML or RTF:
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

The objective of this project is to gather the wader counts in Portugal between 1975 and 1978. The main objective is to list the areas for their importance as a habitat for aquatic species.

|Funding||The preparation of this resource for publication through GBIF was supported by Project PORBIOTA—Portuguese E-Infrastructure for Information and Research on Biodiversity (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-022127), under the Operational Thematic Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization (POCI), under the PORTUGAL 2020 Partnership Agreement, through the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) and FCT.|
|Study Area Description||This report contains results of seven wetland areas: Estuário do Arade (Portimão), Estuario do Mondego (Figuera da Foz), Estuário do Sado, Estuário do Tejo, Ria de Aveiro, Ria Formosa ou Ria de Faro and Sapais de Castro Marim.|
|Design Description||The report is based in reports of wader counts between 1975 and 1978. with these values averages populations and variations over the years are then calculated.|
The personnel involved in the project:
The wader counts were collected from counts reports made between 1975 and 1978. In the follow up some calculations were performed: four-year average population per area for each specie, the annual fluctuations in relation to the average, and the percentage of individuals of each species over the country total.
|Study Extent||This report contains annual wader counts, put together between 1975 and 1978, in of seven Portuguese wetlands: Estuário do Arade (Portimão), Estuario do Mondego (Figuera da Foz), Estuário do Sado, Estuário do Tejo, Ria de Aveiro, Ria Formosa ou Ria de Faro and Sapais de Castro Marim.|
|Quality Control||All initial data was inserted in a specific relational database built specifically for the project, which implemented several quality control methods. In the preparation of the dataset for GBIF publication, data consistency was verified using cluster algorithms using OpenRefine.|
