Description

The Science Museum of the University of Coimbra (MCUC) Crustacean collection consists of approximately 900 and represents over 195 species and subspecies of crustaceans of Portugal. The collection dates between 1890 to 1954, and a few from the Ancient Collection (C.A.) with an unknown date, but probably before 1872.. The collection was organized and cataloged by Rogério Nogueira de Carvalho (Carvalho, 1931, 1933 and 1944) and in 2020 was started an digital inventory by Ana Vieira, José Rosa, Juliana Perrella, Vera Barbosa and Cristina Rufino, continued by Diogo Moreira in 2021 and it was finished in 2022 by Bruno Jesus, David Algarvio, Daniel Marcos and Cristina Rufino. New record numbers were created and most of the scientific names were actualized using the WORMS database (https://www.marinespecies.org/).

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 556 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
